By DT – Warrior Hockey Marketing
We’re at it again. With the success of our Covert Throwback line last fall, we set out to capture another iconic Warrior stick graphic and put a modern twist on it for fall 2017.
One could argue that, aside from the original Dolomite, there isn’t a more recognizable or iconic Warrior graphic than the gold and black AK27 from 2007. Crisp. Clean. Bright. And Different. In other words, everything Warrior Hockey is.
Even though the original AK was a two-piece design, we’ve updated the graphic to incorporate the elements of the Alpha line and brought the AK27 up today’s technology on the Alpha QX platform.
Here are the details and where you can find the Alpha AK27 sticks, starting October 28th in limited release.

“The AK27 SL features the same technology package as our Alpha QX Pro stick from this year, but is 40 grams lighter”
The QX pro has the exact same technology as the top line QX, so if it’s the same weight as the top line QX, isn’t it a QX with the ak27 graphics on, but for 100cad$ less?
I’ll be buying two ha!
QX Pro is not the same as the QX. Technology carries through but the materials are not the same (see Minimus Carbon 1000 –> 800). The AK27 SL is not the same weight as the QX. As is stated in the blog, it’s a QX Pro that has been lightened (SL = Super Light).
Ok here’s a weird question for you warrior. Any idea when these us retailers are going to get their shipments? I called my local proshop and they have no idea LOL. I have the original AK27 stick and want the remake for my arsenal as well. Thanks
Drew
They should have received them last week.
ok thanks I was checking as of today…. neither of the retailers local to me have them available for sale. Hockey House in Hatfield PA and Ice Works Pro Shop in Aston. just wanted to check with Warrior I’m looking forward to those sticks
So, my son absolutely loved his AK27 Alpha SL, it has a hole in it. What’s your recommendation on the closest stick to this??
Alpha QX would be the closest to the AK27.
“The AK27 SL features the same technology package as our Alpha QX Pro stick from this year, but is 40 grams lighter”
Apart from the graphics, whats the difference between this stick and the normal QX?
As is stated in the blog, it’s a QX Pro that has been lightened (SL = Super Light). Different materials than the regular QX.
This simply has to be a rebadged Pro, which isn’t a bad thing. The 40 grams is probably the result of the SL being a 60″ rather than a 63″ stick like the Pro. Now the question is if it is the same except for the 3″ is it just a Pro cut off or was it engineered to be a 60″ stick since an X Flex stick at 63 will play stiffer if cut 3″ no matter what marketing departments say.
The AK27 SL is not a re-skinned QX Pro. We went into more detail to explain the construction on our most recent podcast, which can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/warriorhockeypodcast
The SL is a construction that we’ve offered to Europe and minor pro/college/junior teams in North America for a few years.
Interesting PODCAST – thanks! There are many NHL guys playing the Alpha now. Quick adoption and some I noticed changed brands to use it. My son loves the graphics on the SL. He currently uses the QR1 and has used the DT/QR line for 5 years. How is the blade on the SL versus the QR? Is it livelier, more damped or about the same? Just from catching passes perspective, hot blades are less forgiving. He did not like the CCM Speedburner for example. I think he’ll otherwise do OK with the change to the higher kick point if he got it. He’s currently in an intermediate.
The blade on the AK27SL is the same as the QX line of stick. It plays slightly stiffer than the QRL line.
Is the blade and/or the feel of the blade on the QX line the same as the QRL line or is it different and how so. Is it hotter/less forgiving? There’s not too many comments on the QX floating around yet so I’m sorry for the questions.
It’s slightly different. Blade is a little more lively on the QX.
Where would be the best place to look if I want to buy this Alpha AK27 stick.
I have been looking around and have had no luck finding even one Alpha ak27 (black and gold) stick. Are they already out of stock?
Simon
All the retailers that took in the AK27 are linked or listed above.
Found some Thanks!!!
I’ve been calling my local shops that are listed and they still are telling me they don’t have these sticks. 2 weeks after release??? Was there delays shipping to PA ? Help guys this stinks
All retailers should have their stock.
Just got the AK27 SL . I love it. I also have a 1X lite and i like the AK27 better. Really smooth/easy/ consistent loading in the shaft.
Only thing is I wish it had a bit thinner lighter blade like the 1× LT. But not complaining, awesome stick.
I just received the 2 junior AK27 SL I ordered my son for Christmas. I opened them to check and was very disappointed to see that they’re minimum carbon 600 and not 800 as advertised.
His current alpha strike pro is rattling inside and hasn’t held up well in U12 hockey compared to past sticks.
I bought these because I thought the 800 would hold up more. He’s become a warrior fan, (has had 1n and 1x before), and I’m hoping I don’t regret this purchase.
Can you explain the mix up?
Junior sticks are Minimus 600. Senior sticks are Minimus 800.
But it’s not advertised that way? Does this apply to the Alpha QX as well?
Is it the minims 1000?
The sticks are great…but I’m concerned about durability. If I’d have known these weren’t 800, I’d have ponied up for the QX.
